The Government of India reviewed the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Policy on Space sector.
Amendments have been made under Para 5.2.12 of the Consolidated FDI Policy Circular of 2020.
Changes include different sectoral caps and entry routes for activities like satellites manufacturing, satellite data products, ground segment, launch vehicles, spaceports, and component manufacturing.
Investee entities will be subject to sectoral guidelines issued by the Department of Space.
Definitions for various aspects like satellites, satellite data products, ground segment, user segment, launch vehicles, spaceports, and component manufacturing have been provided.
The decision will be effective from the date of FEMA notification.

South Eastern Coalfield Limited’s Gevra Mine: Future Largest Coal Mine in Asia

The Gevra mine, a subsidiary of Coal India in Chhattisgarh, is set to become the largest coal mine in Asia.
The Ministry of Coal has secured environmental clearance for the mine to expand its annual coal production to 70 million tons.

Summary of CBDT Circular on Audit Report Submission for Trusts/Institutions

CBDT has permitted certain trusts/institutions to submit audit reports in the required Form No. 10B/10BB by 31st March, 2024.
Income of specific funds, institutions, educational establishments, hospitals, etc., mentioned in sections of the Income-tax Act, is exempt subject to meeting specified conditions.
One condition for claiming exemption is submitting audited accounts and the audit report in the prescribed Form No. 10B/10BB before the specified date.
CBDT noticed instances of trusts submitting the wrong audit report form for the Assessment Year 2023-24, potentially leading to exemption denial and tax demand.
Trusting that submitted audit reports by 31st October, 2023, in the wrong form will be accepted, CBDT allows them until 31st March, 2024, to furnish the correct Form No. 10B/10BB.
Circular No. 2/2024 dated 05.03.2024, related to this allowance, has been released by the CBDT.
