The Central Government has set the price of Potash Derived from Molasses (PDM) at ₹ 4263/MT for sugar mills to sell to fertilizer companies this year.
PDM manufacturers can claim a subsidy of Rs. 345/Ton under the Nutrients Based Subsidy Scheme of the Department of Fertilizers.
Sugar mills and fertilizer companies are in discussions for a long-term sale/purchase agreement for PDM.
PDM is a potassium-rich fertilizer derived from molasses distilleries and can reduce India's import dependency on Potash.
The production of PDM domestically will make India self-reliant and offer an additional revenue stream for sugar mills.
